Steuben Optimist Owl and Pessimist Owl
acclaimed designs by Taf Lebel Schaefer (before the 2008 takeover of Steuben and only in USA production for a brief period, so a very special find.)   One cheery Owl, head tilted, looks up with confidence while the other looks aside askance!!  Perfect for someone truly WISE--for the special birthday, anniversary or gift yourself-- these would look gorgeous standing guard over the papers on your desk with their watchful wide angle vision eyes!
This wonderful pair has the superb heft and clarity that is a hallmark of Steuben.
These are larger hand made figurines
(not to be confused with the smaller eight ounce owl hand cooler that is a much less expensive pressed glass design) these are each approx. 4" tall by 3" wide and about 2lbs each.

new in box with no chips, no cracks, no scratches and NO display or base bottom wear*
correctly signed

Steuben designs.
Steuben Glass was founded by Frederick Carder in 1903. It was the world's foremost artisan glass house. Steuben was hand made by American craftsmen at the works in Corning NY.  Because it was hand made, each piece is unique.  Steuben glass was frequently the United States’ gift of State to foreign dignitaries. Steuben marketed no “seconds.”  Items that did not meet their exacting production standards were destroyed by being smashed in a bin. Steuben--a recognized luxury brand.

set is scratch free, on this pair (and most Steuben designs) the base acts as
magnifying glass
and magnifies any base scratches and base wear so that they are annoying. That is why collectors seek items with no shelf or display wear.  Since Steuben closed in late 2011 it has become almost impossible to find scratch free gift worthy examples of this wonderful art glass.
