It helps prevent lateral movement when stepping on or off a ladder, as well as helping prevent property damage from the ladder sliding or blowing off the top. The working parts are constructed of steel with a strong spring for holding power. The spring is only part of the holding. The Ladder Lock is designed to work by binding itself against the extension ladder during lateral movement. This binding is encouraged by an over-sized washer that causes the Ladder Lock to bed at a predetermined angle. Some of our contractors tell us one Ladder Lock is enough, although we strongly advise using two. This is good especially for wall cap and drip edge connections.
