    Description

For auction is a wonderful framed art tile made by The Grueby Pottery Company of Boston, Mass. I have an "Tulip Tile"  framed in quarter sawn oak.
This size of the frame is 9 1/2" by 9 1/2". The tile itself measures 6" by 6" or 6" square.
This frame is made of quarter sawn oak done in deep beautiful stain. The tile is the infamous "Tulip" tile and the detail is just outstanding. The outside border of the leaves, stems, and Tulip flower have been tooled as well as the detail inside the flower. The back ground of the tiles appears to be a bit darker matte green than the leaves. They seem to have a lighter shade of green and smoother texture. The tulip is done in a matte yellow and isn't washed out like so many Tulip tiles I have seen in the past.
This framed tile is considered to be in excellent condition as there are no cracks, nicks, or chips to the pottery or frame. The underside shows part of the underside missing but it was made this way and is pictured. It has no effect to the front side of the tile. The tile is signed in green glaze with the initials "D C" and suspect this is the artist initials. This is a well documented tile and there is no mistake as to who made this. The frame is signed "Dard Hunter Studio" and is a contemporary artist that makes frames and the likes.
Of all the art pottery manufacturers of the day, not one single art pottery company had any stronger influence on the Arts and Crafts pottery movement than Grueby Pottery. Grueby Pottery has always proven a worthy investment as they do nothing but rise in value year after year. I would say this piece of art pottery was made circa 1900-1905. The quarter sawn oak frame was made circa 2010-2020
This piece would look outstanding on any room decorated with the Stickley, mission, arts and crafts style. I'm quite sure the buyer will be very happy with their purchase.

I want to apologize for slowing down my shipping time. Ebay forced me into managed payments in July of the year 2020.
I used to get my money in 24 hours. I now get it in 3-4 business days. I was told it would be better for me and my fees would go down. This has been the opposite as my fees have actually increased and now it takes longer for me to receive the payments
. Because of this slowdown I will not ship until the payment has made it into my bank account. No store lets you out of the building with the
    merchandise
    unless it is paid for.
    They are also n
ow charging all sellers a commission of 11.7% on sales tax. Pay Pal used to charge 2.9% payment processing fee but Ebay has changed this to 11.7%. This is an increase of 8.8% on the sales tax portion. They are now making a profit on the sales tax and treating it as a sale which in my eyes is wrong!! They did the same on the shipping charges several years ago. They use to not charge anything and now they are charging 11.7% commission on shipping as well. This has raised the cost to ship items to you, the buyer and this is factored into my shipping charges.
If you feel what Ebay is doing is wrong or you don't agree them please contact Ebay and voice your opinion. Maybe if enough of you do this, they will change their policy.
