Description
For auction is a wonderful arts and crafts shaped vessel made by The Grueby Pottery Company of Boston, Ma. The vase has "vertically modeled or tooled leaves" and it is done in a wonderful Grueby matte two toned green glaze. The vase is large as it stands 9 7/8" tall and has a diameter of 5 3/4" at the top portion of the vase. The foot has a diameter of 3 7/16".The vase is considered to be a rare form with such tall modeled leaves. This Grueby vase displays a two toned glaze. The vertical inset carved leaves are done in a lighter matte green set against a darker matte green background. The contrast is spectacular. The leaves are carved narrower at the bottom, broader in the middle and each one coming to a point at the top of the leaf. The top of the vessel flares at the top opening. This form is quite rare from Grueby as I have not seen another one through the years. It appears that the leaves are bulging out.
The vase is considered to be in very good excellent condition as there are no cracks, chips or any dings. There has been a professional restoration to the top lip and this is pictured. There is a stilt pull on the underside bottom. This is not damage as it was made this way. The vase is signed on the bottom with the very early circular impressed mark which reads "GRUEBY POTTERY BOSTON USA" with a lotus leaf in the middle. It is somewhat distorted. It also carries the artist initials of a capital incised "RE" for one of Grueby Pottery finest modelers, Ruth Erickson. I would say this vessel was made 1905-1909.
This is wonderful piece of art pottery is done in a beautiful Grueby two toned green glaze with nicely carved and tooled inset leaves. I'm quite sure the buyer will be very pleased with their purchase. This is truly a rare example to add to one's advanced Grueby Pottery collection.

I want to apologize for slowing down my shipping time. Ebay forced me into managed payments in July of this year 2020.
I used to get my money in 24 hours. I now get it in 3-4 business days. I was told it would be better for me and my fees would go down. This has been the opposite as my fees have actually increased and now it takes longer for me to receive the payments
. Because of this slowdown I will not ship until the payment has made it into my bank account. No store lets you out of the building with the
merchandise
unless it is paid for.
They are also n
ow charging all sellers a commission of 11.5% on sales tax. Pay Pal used to charge 2.9% payment processing fee but Ebay has changed this to 11.5%. This is an increase of 8.6% on the sales tax portion. They are now making a profit on the sales tax and treating it as a sale which in my eyes is wrong!! They did the same on the shipping charges several years ago. They use to not charge anything and now they are charging 11.5% commission on shipping as well. This has raised the cost to ship items to you, the buyer and this is factored into my shipping charges.
If you feel what Ebay is doing is wrong or you don't agree them please contact Ebay and voice your opinion. Maybe if enough of you do this, they will change their policy.
