    Description

Here is a beautiful Grueby Pardee pottery landscape tile with tall green trees and building or villa against dark blue mountains and a light blue sky.  The matte glaze colors are nicely curdled and stay within the brown recessed lines. When Boston's Grueby Pottery and Tile sold to Pardee in 1919, William Grueby continued to manage the faience line and received royalties for the use of designs and glazes until his death in 1925.  It measures 4 1/4 inches square and about 3/8 inch thick (framed, 8.5" square).  There are chips to the corners that are covered by the frame, one filled in, but no  invisible repairs, cracks, or firing flaws.  Marked "The C. Pardee Works" on the back.  Framed in an oak Arts & Crafts style frame.  A really nice Arts & Crafts landscape tile.  If you have any questions please click on our username or visit our store page and feel free to email through the gallery or call Jim Messineo at JMW Gallery.
