    Description

    Grueby earthenware vase with crisp modeling of 16 leaves (8 full height large leaves and 8 smaller leaf tips showing between tips of large leaves) and well fired even glaze coverage.  Note that glaze coloration at neck above leaves is a darker green than the body of the vase as illustrated by the photos.  Impressed pre-1899 'Grueby Faience Co Boston U.S.A' mark on underside of vase with incised artist initials 'WP' for Wilhelmina Post in addition to shape designation number '16'.  Vase is 9 inches in height and 5 1/2" in diameter at shoulder.
