Antique Grueby Yellow Eagle Tile 8x8

Description

Grueby tiles such as this one were used in churches in the early 20th century. This one is decorated with yellow and blue glaze and depicts an eagle with a halo and its foot perched on a book. This decoration is a symbol for John the Evangelist who wrote a Christian Gospel. The tile is signed on the reverse NA. There is a minor loss to the glaze in the upper left corner. The tile is in very good condition overall.
