Antique Grueby Green Pegasus or Winged Bull Tile ( Possibly Symbol of St. Luke)

Description

Grueby tiles such as this one were used in churches in the early 20th century. This one is decorated with green glaze and depicts a winged ox or bull with a halo and its foot perched on a book. This decoration is a symbol for Luke the Evangelist who wrote a Christian Gospel. The tile is signed on the reverse MA. There is a half inch long scratch in the glass on the book. The tile is in very good condition overall.
