    Description

1935 Army Of Clowns Corcus Poster ORIGINAL! RARE!.
This is an ORIGINAL 1935 Hagenbeck-Wallace Circus “Army of Clowns” poster. Museum caliber. Incredibly high grade. Linen-Backed. Flawless colors. Essentially Mint. This is one of the most iconic of all Circus posters. One does not need to be a serious circus poster collector to appreciate this on the wall.
There are COUNTLESS reproductions of this poster (especially since it was chosen for inclusion in a set of classic reproduction posters issued by Circus World Museum in 1960, among other modern reproductions produced for decorative use due to its outstanding graphics) but none that would ever come close to fooling anybody (the quality of repros, both colors and paper, is very different from originals and they aren’t even the correct size). But very few originals appear to ever be offered. Before listing this I looked everywhere and couldn’t find one (I did find thousands of reproductions - I even see a repro offered by Wayfair for 9.99. Here’s a link:

This original 1935 poster has been professionally linen-backed (which I paid to do to protect it, allow for handling without fear of harm, and to allow for perfect display). This is a great poster. Could not be any nicer. Ready to frame. Dimensions: 42 x 28 inches.
Value: I can’t find others for sale. I paid something in the neighborhood for 00 for this many years ago and it’s been so long I don’t even know if that is before or after linen-backing. I think before. Whatever it’s value, compared to rare original classics in other fields, in my opinion it is undervalued! Receptive to offers. If the value or interest is not there, happy to keep this one. I am downsizing and no longer have this hanging up. But if I had to choose one circus poster for the wall, this is a likely and worthy choice.
